About mr. Huether
My name is Grant Huether and I am a graduate from Appalachian State University. I received my BS in Middle Grades Education with concentrations in Mathematics and Science.
I have known that I wanted to be a middle school teacher since the sixth grade. During middle school, I encountered awkward moments trying to figure out who my friends should be, what extracurricular activities I wanted to participate in, and how I wanted to identify myself as individual. I don't think I would have been able to make all of those difficult decisions without the support of my teachers. All of my teachers created a nurturing environment for me and my peers. A place where it was okay to explore my individuality and a place that was safe to speak my mind. My goal for teaching is to do the same thing my influential teachers did for me. Every child will have a voice in my classroom. My students will feel safe and encouraged to be themselves. I don't want to simply be a Math or Science teacher. I want to be an advocate for all of my students and a mentor they can come to when they experience their own set of awkward situations. I have been certain about my career choice since I was 12 years old and I am excited for what the future has in store for me. |
